The 6th Sustainable Development Goal set by the United Nations is to ‘Ensure access to water and sanitation for all’. While a lot of progress has been made, the combination of limited freshwater resources worldwide and a rising global population makes this an urgent goal. At Rousselot we are applying all the science, innovation and technology we can to play our part.
Saving energy
The 7th Sustainable Development Goal set by the United Nations calls for “affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all” by 2030. Taking measures to reduce energy consumption and switch to renewable and clean energy is essential to achieving this goal.

Improving emission performance
Reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions (GHGs) trap heat in the atmosphere, contributing to global warming, and it is our responsibility to help reduce these emissions. Every year, we closely follow the evolution of our GHG emissions. These are calculated using GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards, the world’s most used standards for sustainability reporting.
In 2019, Rousselot’s collagen and gelatin GHG Emissions Intensity (tCO2e/MT finished product) were reduced by by 1.3% from 5.51220 in 2018 to 5.44321
